Sixty-four research presentations at ESMO 2026 is a record for Hengrui Pharma, and the number tells a story worth reading closely: three of those slots were Proffered Papers, the congress’s most competitive format, drawn from a portfolio spanning more than ten cancer types and 14 independently approved Class 1 innovative oncology medicines in China as of June 2026. That volume reflects sustained investment, not a one-year push.

The 64 accepted studies covered 21 drugs: nine already on the Chinese market and 12 investigational candidates, spread across gastrointestinal, lung, breast, gynecological, and genitourinary cancers, plus supportive care. Since 2023, Hengrui has accumulated nearly 200 presentations at ESMO alone, and innovative oncology medicines accounted for more than 81% of Hengrui’s total innovative medicine sales revenue in 2025, accounting for 81% of the company’s total innovative medicine sales. Clinical ambition and commercial performance are moving in the same direction.

The pipeline’s international footprint is broader than most China-headquartered companies currently show at Western congresses. Hengrui runs 15 R&D sites across Asia, Europe, North America, and Australia, with roughly 100 clinical studies active worldwide and around 50 innovative assets in development. Several programs hold FDA Orphan Drug or Fast Track designations, including several pipeline assets have received FDA Orphan Drug or Fast Track designations. The company is also folding AI-driven drug discovery into its development process, though how much that accelerates any specific program remains to be seen in readout timelines.

For trial watchers, the metric worth tracking is how many of the 12 investigational candidates generating poster and oral data at ESMO 2026 enter or advance into registrational studies over the next 18 months. That conversion rate, from congress presentation to Phase 3 initiation, will say more about the pipeline’s real depth than the presentation count alone.
