Pentixapharm cleared a meaningful regulatory hurdle this week: the FDA raised no concerns about the protocol for the Phase 3 PANDA study, submitted in August 2026, leaving the design intact at approximately 325 patients with its primary endpoints unchanged. That matters because the protocol question was a key regulatory uncertainty standing between the company and first patient enrollment, now targeted for the first quarter of 2027.
The study is testing [68Ga]Ga-PentixaFor PET/CT as a non-invasive way to subtype primary aldosteronism, specifically to identify which patients have one-sided adrenal disease and would benefit from surgery. Right now that determination depends on adrenal vein sampling, a catheter-based procedure that is technically demanding and not uniformly available. If PentixaFor imaging can replace it in a registrational setting, the clinical pathway for surgically correctable hypertension gets considerably simpler. The FDA’s Fast Track designation, granted in July 2026, reflects that logic.
Site setup is the work in front of the company now. More than ten U.S. sites have been selected, including academic medical centers across several regions and a specialized adrenal center. Site agreements are still being negotiated, and investigators are identified but not yet open for enrollment. The central IRB has approved the protocol and consent documents, so the administrative prerequisites are largely done. How quickly individual sites execute their contracts will determine whether that Q1 2027 enrollment start holds. Supporting data from independent studies presented at EANM 2026 in Vienna, drawing on European, Asian, and Australian cohorts, reinforces the scientific rationale behind the design, though those are observational signals rather than the controlled evidence PANDA itself is meant to generate.
Pentixapharm hosts its third-quarter webcast on November 12, where management will address site activation progress alongside financial results. The concrete marker to watch from that call is whether the company narrows its Q1 2027 enrollment estimate to a specific month, which would indicate site contracts are closing faster than the current open-ended guidance suggests.
