Arcus Biosciences ended the third quarter with approximately $694 million in cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities, the company disclosed in an 8-K filed with the SEC on October 21, 2026. That figure is preliminary and subject to final accounting close, but even as an estimate it tells a useful story: Arcus is carrying meaningful liquidity into a period when its most capital-intensive programs are approaching critical readouts.

The runway matters because the pipeline is expensive to run. PRISM-1, the Phase 3 trial of quemliclustat in first-line metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, is a randomized, double-blind, multicenter study with a chemotherapy backbone, the kind of trial that consumes cash at a steady rate until an interim or final analysis. Separately, zimberelimab, the company’s anti-PD-1 antibody, is in multiple late-stage combination studies in oncology, none of which carry U.S. approval yet. Getting two programs through pivotal data without an equity raise is the pressure test the balance sheet figure now speaks to.

The adenosine axis, which sits at the center of Arcus’s scientific thesis, is still largely unvalidated in oncology at the regulatory level. The dossier confirms no A2A adenosine receptor antagonist has FDA approval in oncology, which means quemliclustat and etrumadenant together carry both the opportunity and the clinical risk of a biology that has yet to produce an approved product in this setting. That context makes the cash position more than a quarterly disclosure: it reflects how much time the company has bought to generate the proof-of-concept data that would change that situation.

With $694 million on hand and the PRISM-1 readout not yet dated in public disclosures, the number to watch is how much quarterly spend the company reports when the 10-Q follows. Burn rate relative to the PRISM-1 timeline will determine whether Arcus can reach a pancreatic cancer readout without returning to capital markets.
