Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has launched an Expanded Access Program (EAP) to offer plozasiran, its investigational therapy, to patients with familial chylomicronemia syndrome (FCS) who are not part of a clinical trial but meet specific criteria. This initiative aligns with Arrowhead’s dedication to aiding patients with lipid disorders and the healthcare professionals treating them. Dr. Daniel Gaudet will present the final Phase 2 data from the SHASTA-2 study of plozasiran, focusing on severe hypertriglyceridemia (SHTG), at the 73rd Annual Scientific Session & Expo of the American College of Cardiology (ACC.24) in Atlanta, from April 6-8, 2024.

Arrowhead is also nearing the completion of its Phase 3 PALISADE study of plozasiran in FCS patients, alongside the launch of the EAP for those seeking treatment outside clinical trials. At ACC.24, Arrowhead will provide resources to physicians about cardiometabolic diseases and introduce its pipeline of RNAi therapeutics utilizing the proprietary TRiMâ„¢ platform.

The EAP offers a vital pathway for patients with severe or life-threatening conditions to access investigational treatments when no satisfactory alternatives are available. Plozasiran, still under investigation, may offer new hope to individuals living with FCS, but comes with the potential for both efficacy and risks.

Physicians interested in the plozasiran EAP or wishing to request access for a patient can contact [email protected] for more information. Full details of Dr. Gaudet’s presentation on the SHASTA-2 final results, showcasing the potential impact of plozasiran on APOC-3 and triglyceride levels in SHTG patients, will be shared on April 7, 2024, at the ACC.24.
