At the 2025 Veeva R&D and Quality Summit Europe, Martin Helling, Executive Director of the One Medicine Platform at Boehringer Ingelheim, described how the company redefined industry benchmarks by launching a unified digital transformation across Clinical Operations, Clinical Data Management, Regulatory, and Quality—all at once. The One Medicine Platform is a company-wide initiative aimed at streamlining systems, harmonizing processes, and promoting a cultural shift toward standardization. Designed to accelerate time-to-market for over 20 planned therapies by 2030, the program has already cut system sprawl from 3,500 to under 1,000 applications and improved data access, oversight, and regulatory alignment. Martin emphasized that success required more than IT—it involved governance, change management, and close partnership with Veeva to co-develop connectors and adhere closely to out-of-the-box standards. With early efficiency gains and a bold vision for AI and automation, Boehringer is utilizing the One Medicine Platform to set a new pace for innovation, driven by strategy and the urgent need to deliver life-saving therapies more quickly to patients in need.
