BriaCell Therapeutics has added Mayo Clinic as a clinical site for its ongoing Phase 3 clinical trial for Bria-IMT™, a novel immunotherapy for metastatic breast cancer. This expands the study to 69 sites across 15 states, including other prestigious institutions like Yale and Northwestern. The trial compares Bria-IMT™ combined with an immune checkpoint inhibitor against the standard physician’s choice of treatment.

The inclusion of Mayo Clinic strengthens the trial’s credibility and broadens its reach. Mayo Clinic’s participation, having also been involved in BriaCell’s Phase 2 study, brings valuable experience and expertise in advanced breast cancer care. This collaboration enhances the potential for robust data collection and analysis, critical for evaluating Bria-IMT™’s efficacy and future regulatory approvals. It also signals a growing confidence in Bria-IMT™ as a potential treatment option.

This Phase 3 trial will assess overall survival in patients with advanced metastatic breast cancer. Interim data analysis is planned after 144 patient deaths occur. The company recently reported positive Phase 2 survival data using the same Bria-IMT combination regimen in a similar patient population. Bria-IMT™’s combination regimen also holds FDA Fast Track designation, highlighting its potential to address an unmet medical need.

This latest development marks a significant step forward for BriaCell. Positive results from the Phase 3 trial could pave the way for regulatory approval and commercialization of Bria-IMT™, potentially offering a new treatment option for patients with advanced breast cancer. The collaboration with leading institutions like Mayo Clinic reinforces the growing interest in Bria-IMT™ and its potential to change the treatment landscape for this challenging disease.
